Cannot Access Printer Or Printer Driver Lotus Notes 8.5
My Cannon Multipass F30 printer appears to have been installed properly since it works OK from the Cotrol Panel/Printer Test Page and prints website pages. It also prints Ok in Microsoft Word.
My problem is that it will not print from Excel or Lotus, even though I have ensured that the Cannon Multipass F30 Printer is selected from the print menu. When Print is selected from the print menu, the momentary 'printing to printer' screen appears as normal but the printer does not respond at all. It appears that the print job is being dumped somewhere else although I get no indication of where. Also, the I have made sure that the Print-to-File box is not checked and an appropriate print range has been selected. Fake Drivers License Printer on this page.

Response to AcaCandy and Jedi_Master: Using CTRL-Alt-DEL I closed down all unecessary programs and got the same result which was no print-out form Excel or Lotus. There must be something common to spreadsheet programs that this printer does not like.
Strange problem, huh? Thanks for your help so far! It has been quite some time since I had this problem, and I have since got a new computer, but if I remember correctly, I finally solved this problem by reinstalling the printer to use the Parallel port instead of the USB. After doing this, I also reinstalled Microsoft Office and Lotus. If you use the parallel port, make sure that the cable is compatible with the latest ANSI standards since some of the Centronics parallel cables made to older ANSI standards may not work correctly. After that, I was able to print both Excel and Lotus spreadsheets OK.
I am not sure which step actually fixed the problem, but I suspect that installing different drivers (LPT1 vs. USB) made my system more compatible with the versions of Excel, Lotus and Windows that I was using.
Customer rolled out Windows 7 machines to end users. When a user tries to print to a network printer the printers display with 3 question marks in the name. If the user tries to select a printer anyways the receive the error 'Cannot access printer or printer driver (may be due to insufficient memory)' Printer names in this case are: dfsprwprint01 OSS_11-03 dfsprwprint01 OSS_11-04 and so on. The printer names were not renamed recently This only occurs in Lotus Notes and on Windows 7. Users on XP do not experience the issue.
To resolve the issue the customer changed the case of 'OSS' to lower case (i.e. Oss_11-03) Local fix •.
