Yes, unfortunately Epson decided not to include that model for Windows 8 support. My 1240 model doesn't even have Windows 7 drivers but I managed to carry on using it by installing a third-party scanning application called 'VueScan' which installs it's own generic driver for USB scanners, and the application is Windows 8 compatible.
